Cité Internationale Des Arts
”Experiméntale” was a project initiated at Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. I diligently nurtured it, collaborating with fellow artists, engaging with a diverse network, and relentlessly pursuing my vision. The culmination of these efforts led to the project’s exhibition, initially at Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris and subsequently at my solo exhibition ”Beyond the Rules” at the Fire Station Doha.
For several years, my interest lies within human interaction and behavior, toward the ups and downs of life, frailties and strengths that make one humane. Why do we behave the way we do? Can we control our behaviors and emotions? To what extent does the outside world have an impact on our emotions? These are a few of the many questions that I always find difficult, to have a defined at least, if not a clear answer.
During my residency at Cité International des Arts, my goal was to interact with many people as possible; have in depth personal conversations, to understand and somehow try to find answers to these questions.
Entitled. These days, people get to live in their ‘entitled’ bubble – imposing others into doing and believing things; thus, invoking a negative behavior generally.
While we are programmed to follow and respect the cultural rules, traditions, and way of life we were born into or are accustomed, we don’t get to see other realities, which then diminishes our growth in all aspects.
It was, and still is fascinating for me to see, that even though diverse cultures have different ways of interpreting behaviors and emotions, we agree that regardless of the circumstances, it all comes down to one basic ideology – coexist! Understanding and respecting one another, rather than forcing one’s opinion or belief to the other.
My projects are drawn to explore the negative effects of self-righteous beliefs, along with the factors related to it that can shape up the subconscious and conscious mind; how these rules can navigate a person to undesirable consequences; how these diminishes our growth rather than uplifting each of us, further creating a safer space for one, for all.
