Bio

Abeer Al-Tamimi is a multidisciplinary artist based in Doha, Dubai, and Paris, whose work spans painting, installations, and film. Her art explores the raw complexities of human emotion and behavior, using fragmented representations of the human body to convey psychological depth and intensity. By blending realism with surrealism, Abeer creates powerful, evocative images that capture moments of vulnerability, transformation, and internal conflict, inviting viewers to confront their own perceptions of identity and self.

Primarily working with oil on canvas, Abeer uses texture, color, and movement to express emotional intensity, often presenting figures that appear incomplete or in flux. Drapery and gesture lines are prominent motifs in her work, symbolizing the layered intricacies of the human experience. These elements reflect strength and fragility, adding depth and movement that evoke the transient nature of identity. Abeer's approach encourages viewers to engage with her work on a personal level, connecting emotionally and intellectually with the layered narratives she presents.

In her art, Abeer often portrays fragments of the human form rather than entire figures, emphasizing the complexity of what is seen and what remains unseen. This focus on partiality and fragmentation reflects her exploration of identity as a fluid, multifaceted experience, offering an intimate perspective on the tensions between internal emotions and outward expression.

Abeer’s work has been exhibited internationally in cities such as Paris, New York, Doha, Dubai, London, Ibagué, Rome, and Madrid, earning her recognition for her distinctive approach to depicting the human condition. She has received the prestigious Shaikha Manal Young Artist Award, an acknowledgment of her impact on the art world and her potential as an influential emerging artist.

Her art is also part of notable collections, including those at The Ned Hotel in Doha and the Qatar Auto Museum, where her pieces continue to captivate audiences with their depth and complexity. Through her evocative portrayals, Abeer creates thought-provoking experiences that resonate on a universal level, addressing themes such as resilience, introspection, and the ever-evolving nature of human identity.

In her ongoing practice, Abeer strives to push the boundaries of traditional art forms, using her work to explore the richness of human experience. Her blend of realism and surrealism creates a compelling visual language that invites viewers to reflect on their own identities and emotions, making her work a powerful force in contemporary art. As she continues to evolve, Abeer’s art offers both a mirror and a lens, encouraging deeper connections with the complexities of the self.
